This week on March 25, 2009, we lost a very dear friend who has influnenced our life in so many ways. Jon Wesly Hyde passed away in Preston, Idaho following a bout with a rapidly developingg form of cancer which affected many of his vital organs, He was a wonderful man, with a great devotion to his Church, his famliy and everyone else he came in contact with. I had the good fortune of serving as a counselor to him while he was the bishop of th Montpelier 3rd Ward. He was a person who cared about everyone and was always willing to help anyone in need. One of his greatest atrributes was his almost comlete lack of desire for personal accaldes. That is rare from a person who had his competitive drive, but he sought more for the success of others than he did for himself. He had a wonderful sense of humor, which kept us all on our toes and a smile on our face. Another thing I appreciated about him was that he never was one to shrink from the difficult things in life, wheter it was on the ball field or court or attending his duties in the Church or school. He always faced things with resolve and a sense of fairness. He loved people and they loved him. He loved the out of doors and spent countless hours working and playing in what he knew to be one of God's greatest creation. He served as bishop of two different wards and changed countless lifes for the better. In all the years I knew him, I never heard an unkind word spoke about him and maybe even more important I never heard him speak an unkind word about anyone else. He affected so many lives for good, either directly or indirectly. We love him and he will be missed beyond measure. A light has gone out of our lives., but the glow is still there and will contine to inspire us to do better. Rarely does the life of a single individual touch so many lives for good on a personal basis We feel fortunate to have known him and to spend time with him and his family, and wish them all the greatest blessings of eternity. We will see him again, of that I have know doubt. God bless Linda, Kyle, Gay and their wonderful children and may we all strive to preserve and protect the wonderful legacy he left behind.
