A Very Happy Birthday

The day began at 8:30 AM at Ryan's house. We were going fishing together, Ryan, Justin and I, for the first time in quite a while. We drove for about sixty miles to the our designated fishing spot through wind and hail and snow. When we arrived it was cold and windy and to top it off the water in the lake was very murky. Not to be deterred, we all had a line in the water is short order and the fishing began. Well, at least we were getting our flies into the water against the wind. All of the fish in the lake must have been confused and thought it was Fast Sunday, at least none were taking what we had to offer. We tried for a while and finally Ryan said: "The fishing is over. From here on it's just a trip to the mountains." We always enjoy being in the mountains regardless of the weather and as far as the fish are concerned, it's mostly just an excuse to get outside and be together among God's beautiful creations. No fish, No tears shed, Happy faces.

After arriving home and cleaning up some, it was off to Alison and Ammon's house for a family get-together and lots of fun and food. It was great getting to see you all and enjoy the delicious meal that had been prepared. Even more special was to see my grandkids enjoying one another and playing so well together. These kids are very special and important to us and each one shows their love for us in their own way, which brings joy to our hearts and souls.

All of our children, not very much children anymore, were there except for Stephen. He lives far away in Colorado and we missed him and his family immensely. Only their presence could have made the day more perfect, but we knew, they were with us in spirit and that means a great deal to us too.

And of course the setting was perfect. Alison and Ammon have a beautiful large home, big enough to accomadate the entire clan, and a beautiful yard in which the kids had a great time playing together after the weather cleared a little bit. In short, it was an almost perfect day. One for which I will ever be greatful. Thanks to all of you for your love and for the way you live your lives. May the Lord's greatest blessings continue to be yours/ours. I love you all very much.

Bart! I love you and hope you had a wonderful day. From the photo's and the look on your face, I think you did.

Thanks for being my dad for the past 20 years too! I am sorry to miss the big party. But, did think of you and hope your day was bright.

My Brother Boone says, "a bad day fishing beats a good day at work". ;)
